Agriculture is the bedrock of the Indian economy. With India pushing towards a new agricultural era, small farmers are absolutely vital to this growth. Despite accounting for 86% of all farmers, small and marginal farmers contribute only 47% of total cropping area (2015 – 2016 – Agriculture census).

Smallholders face diverse challenges and need a different set of solutions to accelerate growth. Standardization of Practices, Adaptive mechanization, access to policies and marketplaces, research and development and marketing management are cornerstone to making small land owners profitable in North-East India.
