Background:

 

The SDS Research and Development Unit drives projects across agriculture, climate, environment, entrepreneurship, monitoring, and strategy. Focused on rural, vulnerable, and excluded communities, it generates detailed indicators for informed decision-making. The unit supports various national and regional agencies and institutions to integrate effective social and economic policies, aiming at reducing poverty and livelihood enhancement. Participatory research is one of our integral aspects of understanding communities and their challenges for supporting sustainable livelihoods at the grassroots.


The research unit requires substantial support to ensure quality and timely delivery. It is in this context that SDS would like to recruit Research Fellows to strengthen our community-driven research projects and sectoral engagements in NER. This role would also entail grassroots field engagements with communities and stakeholders at regular intervals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Engage and conduct participatory research with grassroots stakeholders and communities.

  • Preparing research reports across our domain of delivery

  • Conduct baseline, need assessment, diagnostic reports, plans, and impact reports for project support

  • Conducting market research for identifying and scaling business opportunities

  • Performing background research (qualitative and quantitative) on project activities.

  • Conduct surveys, implementation, and analysis for diverse projects in the Research unit

 

Competencies:

Functional:

  • Highly developed qualitative and quantitative research skills; knowledge of household surveys (Questionnaire design, sampling methodology and data analysis) is an additional asset

  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to rapidly analyse and integrate diverse information from varied sources;

  • Knowledge of SPSS and NVivo or research software

  • Identifies priority activities and assignments;

  • Teamwork - excellent interpersonal, organizational and management skills and ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Able to manage complex problems proactively and effectively, including responses to field-based emergencies;

  • Ability to operate effectively in a changing and complex environment, and to produce results under stress;

Qualifications: MA, MSW, MBA, PGDM Or any other relevant fields (We are looking for Freshers for this position  or with 1 year of experience)
 

Compensation: Rs. 35000/-
